Can 85XX loads sink high current at very low voltages?

2020-01-15

Certain models in the 85xx DC load series are designed with capabilities to sink high current at very low voltages.  This is ideal and often necessary for fuel cells testing.  Each of B&K Precision's loads in the 85XX series can operate differently at minimal voltage.  Below is a graphical illustration to show each model's low voltage characteristics.  With these graphs, users can determine which models will meet their requirement for low voltage and high current sinking.

Current at Low Voltage 8500, 8502, 8510, and 8512 Current at Low Voltage 8514, 8518, 8524, and 8526 Current at Low Voltage 8520 and 8522 The illustrations above show voltage vs. current curve.  The lines define the maximum current the loads can sink at the corresponding voltages.  For example, model 8518 load can sink up to 80 A at 0.4 V.  At it's maximum rated input of 240 A, it can sink from 1.2 V and above.
