My computer does not have a parallel port. Can I use a parallel to USB adapter to connect my programmer?
2019-12-23
Most of our discontinued device programmers from the past were originally developed using parallel interface as that was a common available interface port found on most computers during their development period. Over the years, with computers being far more advanced than in thepast, parallel LPT printer ports are phasing out of the current market and being replaced by USB. Most computers now do not have parallel port.
While some companies manufacture interface adapters that allow for conversion from parallel to USB interface, our programmers with parallel ports do not work with such adapters. Some reasons have to do with timing and speed, while they also do not simulate or represent the same as a true LPT printer port (which is a requirement to interface with our programmers). For this reason, almost all of our device programmers currently sold have USB interface only. Trade-in offers are available for those who want to trade-in discontinued models for current models with USB interface.
