Remote Communication issues using IT-E13XX TTL Adapters

2019-12-23

If you are having and issue where you can't communicate with a power supply when using the IT-E13XX TTL Adapter then note: These power supplies need to be first put into "Remote Communication Mode" that gets done  in two ways. If the software package allows for individual control for DTR and RTS, then when this two lines are enabled, it would indicate to the power supply to go into remote control once it receives the first message (it won't show REM on the front screen until it receives a command).

DTR and RTS signals will not be used for Flow Control but rather to get the unit listening and expecting a command. If the software does not allow for that, i.e. Putty, Termite and others, then to get the unit in remote control the user has to first send the command: SYST:REM to get the instrument in remote control and then you can query and set the unit as you see fit. Terminal emulators used for this test: Putty, Termite, NI Max and Docklight.
