Remote Communication Settings for 390A

B&K Precision model 390A handheld multimeters have come in two different types. While on some older versions, the meters include communication cable for RS232 interface. For newer versions, USB interface cables are included instead.The USB interface is a virtual COM USB interface, but the serial port COM settings are no different compared to RS232 interface. Please refer to below settings for RS232 and USB interface configurations.
For RS232 interface
- Baudrate: 2400
- Parity: None ("N" in the software configuration)
- Data bits: 7
- Stop bit: 1
For USB (Virtual COM) interface
- Baudrate: 2400
- Parity: Odd ("O" in the software configuration)
- Data bits: 7
- Stop bit: 1
Included in the attachment at the end of this article below is a documentation with details on remotely communicating with the 390A. It contains the format and explanation of all supported commands that will allow users to communicate with the device remotely via RS232 or USB (virtual COM).
