B&K Precision Expands AC Power Portfolio with 9810 Series Programmable AC Power Sources

New 500 VA and 1000 VA models

B&K Precision, a leading designer and manufacturer of reliable, cost-effective test and measurement instruments, announced the launch of its 9810 Series Programmable AC Power Sources. This new series, consisting of the 9812 and 9814-220V models, delivers up to 1000 VA of clean, low-distortion power, providing engineers with a versatile tool for simulating global power conditions and complex power disturbances. 

The 9810 Series is engineered to meet the demands of production, R&D, and service environments. With an adjustable output from 0 to 300 V and a frequency range of 45 Hz to 500 Hz, these sources are ideal for evaluating transformers, TRIACs, SCRs, and passive components.

The series features a comprehensive List Mode that allows users to sequence up to 50 programs, each containing 9 customizable steps. Each step can be configured with specific voltage, frequency, and timing parameters, including ramp-up and dwell times. For immunity testing, the built-in Power Line Disturbance (PLD) simulator enables the creation of common waveform anomalies such as surges, sags, and spikes. Additionally, a dedicated dimmer simulation feature allows for motor and lighting control testing by adjusting phase cut-off from 0 to 180°.

The 9810 Series is equipped with a 4.3-inch color LCD screen that provides a clear view of critical measurements, including voltage, current, frequency, power factor, and crest factor. The front panel includes a universal AC output terminal for global compatibility, while the rear panel features RS232 and USB (VCOM) interfaces for seamless system integration and remote operation.

To ensure the safety of the device under test (DUT), the 9810 Series includes built-in protections for overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent (OCP), overpower (OPP), and overtemperature (OTP). A specialized OC fold feature can also reduce voltage automatically to maintain current within safe limits. The 9810 Series comes standard with a 3-year warranty and a certificate of calibration.
