B&K Precision Expands Data Acquisition Recorder Line with the Portable High-Speed DAS1820

Yorba Linda, CA. April 14, 2026

Portable and Compact Dual-Slot Data Acquisition System

B&K Precision, a leading designer and manufacturer of reliable, cost-effective test and measurement instruments, announced the launch of the DAS1820, a portable high-speed data acquisition system. Designed for versatility and portability, the DAS1820 features a dual-slot chassis that utilizes the same plug-and-play module ecosystem as the larger DAS1800, providing nearly identical performance in a significantly more compact solution.

Despite its small footprint, it offers powerful measurement capabilities, supporting sampling rates up to 1 MSa/s per channel and simultaneous sampling for up to 8 channels. For high-voltage environments, the system can measure signals up to ±1500 VDC or 1000 Vrms with safety ratings for CAT III 1500 V and CAT IV 1000 V.

Data recording is optimized to ensure efficient memory usage when capturing both trends and transients. Users can configure up to three different sampling rates per recording and save data to independent MDF4 files. The instrument also features a comprehensive power analysis function for DC, single-phase, and 3-phase systems, providing real-time visualization of phasor diagrams and harmonic histograms up to the 50th order.

The system is designed for intuitive operation with a 12-inch HD touchscreen and a built-in sensor library to simplify sensor configuration. For synchronization across multiple units, the DAS1820-SYNC model adds support for PTP (IEEE 1588), IRIG, and GPS timing sources. Enhanced portability is achieved with an optional internal battery that provides up to 4 hours of continuous field use and a standard 500 GB internal SSD for long-term data storage.

The DAS1820 base unit has a list price of $6,500 and modules starting at $3,200. Users can rest assured their investment is protected with a standard 3-year warranty, and new features are delivered through software and firmware updates via the internet or a USB drive. Additionally, the modular design of the DAS1820 ensures that it can be easily reconfigured as testing needs evolve.
